Programs: Home Safety

Many unintentional injuries occur in and around the home. The home is where children spend most of their time learning, growing, and exploring their world. Safe Kids offers the programs to help parents, caregivers and educators increase the safety of the home.

• Over 40% of unintentional injuries occur in and around the home,
• The leading cause of death for infants is suffocation. The leading cause of hospitalization are falls.

Home Safety for the Home Visitor presentations

In this presentation, Safe Kids Sonoma County provides many resources for parents and caregivers such as home safety checklists as well as a list of Action Steps to make safety improvements. There is also information for providers and home visitors to share with clients.

Falls prevention equipment

Safe Kids Sonoma County partners with Sonoma County Public Nurses to provide home safety equipment such as stairway gates, door knob covers, and smoke alarms to low-income families.

Educational Displays

Safe Kids is committed to educating the community about home safety. Our displays about home safety are rotating throughout community clinics and emergency rooms in the county.
