About Us: History
Safe Kids Sonoma County is a local affiliate of Safe Kids Worldwide,
a global organization dedicated to preventing accidental childhood
injuries. In 1997, the Sonoma County Department of Health Service held
a conference to examine the scope of the problem of childhood injuries
and deaths in Sonoma County and potential solutions. Following the
conference, representatives from community organizations formed a group
to address childhood injuries. From this group, Safe Kids Sonoma County evolved
and was officially recognized as a local coalition of Safe Kids Worldwide
in 1998.
