About Us: Coalition / Action TeamsSafe Kids Sonoma County gets things done through its Action Teams. We currently have three Action Teams:
Affiliated Injury Prevention EffortsSafe Teen DrivingSafe Kids Worldwide focuses on children ages 14 and under. Although not under the umbrella of Safe Kids Sonoma County due to the age parameter, safe teen driving is a very important childhood injury prevention issue. Car crashes are the number one killer of teens in Sonoma County. The Provisional License Action Network (PLAN) is a local coalition dedicated to preventing car crashes among teens. PLAN oversees a peer-to-peer campaign in 12 high schools in Sonoma County to promote safe teen driving. For more safe teen driving resources, click here. Water SafetyThe Sonoma County Water Safety Committee is a coalition led by the American Red Cross to address water safety and education. The coalition coordinates the “Vamos A Nadar” (Let’s Go Swimming) program to teach bilingual children and parents about water safety. They also coordinate the “ Vamos a Ser Salvavidas” (Let’s Be Lifeguards) program for bilingual lifeguards and the Russian River safety education program. For more Water Safety resources, click here.
